ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Manager, Stephen Price, who has been monitoring ticketing sales trends since the second phase began on September 1, 2006, said: "Cricket fans intent on holding out until closer to the start of the tournament to purchase match tickets may find themselves with very limited choices."

Delroy Taylor, ICC CWC 2007 Project Officer " Ticketing, reinforced Price's point, reporting that as of 12 noon Eastern Caribbean time today (September 4, 2006) all Category 1 and 2 tickets " allocated for sale via Public Ticketing " to the Super 8 match, A1 versus B1 in Grenada, as well as for the second Semi-Final in Saint Lucia and Final in Barbados have been sold.

"For this event to express its true Caribbean identity, people of the region must make their presence felt at next year's Cricket World Cup by purchasing their tickets now to be sure they're part of this historic event. Tickets to key matches are going faster than we had anticipated. Apart from matches for which tickets are not unavailable, there's only a limited number of tickets for various other matches, for example, the Group Stage match between reigning ICC Cricket World Cup champions Australia and tournament contenders South Africa."

Price endorsed Taylor's call for Caribbean nationals to act now and purchase their tickets during this phase.

"What we're seeing during the early stages of Phase 2 is a heightened escalation in ticket sales. People are quickly coming to terms with the reality that during this phase, tickets are being sold on a first come, first served basis, with no tickets being held back for latter stages.

"This has led to a surge in demand for tickets, particularly for matches at the Super 8 stage and beyond. But there are still tickets available to some really exciting matches, as well as the Opening Ceremony, and we're encouraging people to purchase them before they're gone," said the ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Manager.

Ticket allocations per person, per match have been increased for Phase 2. Individuals can now purchase a maximum of 14 tickets per Warm-up match; 10 tickets per Group Stage match and 8 tickets per Super 8 match. However, all tickets received in Phase 1 will count towards a fan's overall ticket allocation. There's still a limit of two persons per household who can purchase tickets.

ICC CWC 2007 match tickets are currently available at www.cricketworldcup.com and at Official Ticket Centres in the nine Host Venues. During this second phase, purchases will be authorised instantly, and individuals will receive email or hard-copy confirmations of their transactions within minutes. The second phase of public ticketing ends November 30, 2006.
