Trescothick pulls out of Champions Trophy

England opening batsman Marcus Trescothick has pulled out of next month's Champions Trophy because of a medical condition but what exactly this is still remains a mystery to the general public.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Wednesday "Following specialist medical advice received by the England selectors, opening batsman Marcus Trescothick will not be named in the 14-man squad for October's ICC Champions Trophy in India," the ECB said in a statement.

Trescothick returned home just two weeks into England's February-April tour of India citing personal reasons, though he later said a virus was to blame and that he had wanted to spend more time with his family.Trescothick, who is expected to be fit for the Ashes tour of Australia from November, has been receiving treatment since his return from India but needs more rest.

"I was keen to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy but I do appreciate that my specialist's advice is that I must first continue the treatment devised for me," Trescothick said.
